Arcadia Veterans - Copy (1).JPG

The United States needs 700,000 farmers over the next 20 years to replace the farmers aging out of the profession. Since 2015, Arcadia has trained the next wave of American farmers: US military veterans, active-duty servicemembers, and military family members. More than 100 have completed training. One-third have already launched their farms, and two-thirds of our graduates are engaged in agriculture. In 2018 we launched the Arcadia Veteran Farm Incubator to give our graduates a low-risk start to their new careers, with land, irrigation, a greenhouse, walk-in cooler, and market and technical support. This fall we’ll plant a fruit orchard on Arcadia Farm, the campus for our veteran trainees.  In the pandemic, Arcadia veteran farmers are growing food for free distribution in their communities, and helped to stand up the ops center for the Mid-Atlantic Food Resilience and Access Coalition. With 4P Foods, Arcadia co-founded MAFRAC  in March to marshall resources and make the connections that keep our community fed and farmers farming.
